FAQs - Answers to All Your Tire Service Questions

1) What Are the Different Types of Tires Available?

There are a variety of tires available, with tires for different seasons, types of driving performance, and types of vehicles. These can include all-season, winter, summer, and performance tires.

2) How Do I Choose the Right Tires for My Vehicle?

You'll first want to identify your car's tire size and then factor in your driving habits and the environment you'll be driving in. For example, if you live in an area that receives a lot of snow, you'll want to purchase winter tires for those snowy months.

3) What Do the Numbers on the Sidewall Mean?

The numbers on the tire sidewall provide information about your car's tires - dimensions, speed, load capacity, intended purpose, and temperature. The first letter identifies the type of vehicle. The following three digits are the tire's width in millimeters. The next two numbers are the aspect ratio, which is a percentage of the tire's height to its width. The next letter is the tire construction type. After the letter, the next two numbers are the wheel diameter in inches. The last two numbers are the load index, and the final letter is the speed rating.

4) How Often Should I Rotate My Tires?

If you don't change your tires for each season, you'll want to rotate your tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles.

5) When Should I Replace My Tires?

If your tires are more than six years old, have a tread depth of less than 2/32 inches, or are damaged, they should be replaced.

6) What Are the Signs That I Need New Tires?

Some indicators that show you need new tires include a low tread depth, bulges, cracks, or bad tire pressure.

7) How Do I Check My Tire Pressure?

  • Find a tire pressure gauge (most gas stations have one)
  • Remove the air valve cap on the tire
  • Press the tire gauge on the open valve and hold for a second or two.
  • Read the pressure gauge and compare the number to your recommended tire pressure.
  • Inflate or deflate accordingly and replace the valve cap.

8) What is the Difference Between Run-Flat Tires and Regular Tires?

Run-flat tires (RFTs) have a reinforced sidewall that allows you to keep moving after a puncture has occurred. They are more expensive than regular tires, but are more stable if an incident occurs.

9) What Are the Benefits of Tire Balancing and Alignment?

When your tires are balanced and aligned, they promote even wear, make your drive that much smoother, and improve your fuel efficiency.
